Season Ends on Sour Note For Sugar, Others
by The Big Bad Sugar Daddy

SURREY, VANCOUVER and LADYSMITH, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- October 22 was to mark Marty Sugar's day of reckoning, when his dogged search for truth finally bore fruit; of course, last month's news clearly stated that Marty's victory speech was rudely interrupted by the antics of Vance Nevada and Scotty Sweatervest. On November 19, Sugar went looking for an apology; instead, he was left looking for a physical therapist.

The evening started like any other Just Wrestling event: the Bridgeview Hall crowd were growing restless, tired of Sweatervest's incessant droning. Marty came out to save the show, dressed in a sweatervest of his own, to try and show professional solidarity.

"We're the same, you and me," Sugar told Sweatervest, "I'm just cooler, smarter, and better looking."

This comment seemed to rankle Sweatervest, who gave Sugar a dirty glare. Words were exchanged, most notably Sugar dispelling rumors of his running away the month before: Sugar stated that with Vance Nevada terrorizing ringside, using the ECCW Heavyweight Title as a weapon, it was safer for Sugar to calmly vacate the premises, rather than see Nevada land in jail.

"Vance is already in enough trouble for assaulting Brian Sommers and Disco Fury," Sugar told the Surrey faithful, "I didn't want to make things any worse for him."

The current scene between Sugar and Sweatervest escalated further, to the point where Sugar challenged Sweatervest to try and confront him, one-on-one. Instead, Sweatervest headed backstage.

"Maybe it wasn't very professional of me to confront Sweatervest like that," Sugar would later say, backstage, "but the guy has been disrespecting me for six months; I needed to take a stand for myself."

With Sweatervest gone, Sugar got down to that night's segment of The Sugar-Coated Truth, with his guest, Miss Chevius. The attractive young woman hit the ring, and told everyone she was excited to be on the show.

"I can tell by the front of your shirt that you're excited," Sugar said, "and that it's not just cold in here."

Miss Chevius seemed to take umbrage with that comment, as well as Sugar's revelation that Miss Chevius was sexually attracted to Marty. Instead of admitting her lust, Miss Chevius acted indifferent.

"Come on," Marty told her, "everyone knows that life is sweeter with a little bit of Sugar."

To which Miss Chevius replied, while staring at Marty's crotch: "Yeah, it sure looks like a little bit of Sugar."

"As you can imagine," Sugar would later state, "I was hurt, confused, and insulted. Why would [Miss Chevius] act this way in public, when she most definitely has a different attitude about me, backstage? The whole ordeal was very unsettling; unfortunately, I didn't handle things in as gentlemanly a manner as possible."

In fact, Sugar went on to serve his biggest dose of Sugar-Coated Truth yet, stating that women are not real wrestlers, but are merely sexual tools of the trade. With that, Sugar demanded to know who Miss Chevius was sleeping with, in order to even secure a spot on the Just Wrestling roster. With that, for a third straight month, Vance Nevada interrupt the show, this time with Sweatervest in tow. Sugar was livid.

"September was Strike One ... October was Strike Two," Sugar hollered at Nevada, "this month is Strike Three: you're banned from The Sugar-Coated Truth for good!"

But "Mr. Beefy Goodness" was unfazed, storming into the ring, alongside a chair-wielding Sweatervest. Ordering Sugar to sit on said chair in a corner, ("Or else I'll punch your face in," Vance threatened), Nevada took the show hostage. From there, Nevada called out his opponent for the evening's Main Event showdown, Disco Fury. The current NWA Canadian Junior Heavyweight Champion complied, alongside his manager, "Starmaker" Brian Sommers. Once in the ring, words were exchanged by all parties, with Disco revealing that he carried the "Double Platinum" duo to greatness, and reminding Nevada that he would be nothing without Disco Fury ... a fact made all the more poignant, now that Vance Nevada is no longer the ECCW Heavyweight Champion.

"In fact, I'm so great that I could take any partner and be successful," Disco declared, "in fact, I know I could become a Tag Team Champion with Marty Sugar."

To that, Vance challenged Disco to put his money where his mouth was, demanding a match against Disco and Sugar. Sommers stepped in, stating that he didn't want Vance to whine and cry later, that he lost in a handicap match. There were to be no excuses this evening: find a partner, or the deal is off.

"It won't take a wrestler to beat Marty Sugar," Nevada said, and turned to the audience for assistance. Luckily for the fans that were chosen, "Starmaker" provided them with enough excuses to save them from any possible injury. Instead, in a shocking turn of events, Vance picked the non-wrestling Scotty Sweatervest as his partner! Despite Sweatervest's apprehension, the Main Event was set. And in spite of the best efforts of Marty and Disco, the team was defeated when Sweatervest pinned Sugar: a pair of stunners and a "Sweatervest Elbow" sealed the deal. But the aftermath was severe, as Marty required medical attention.

"Scotty Sweatervest is not a wrestler," Sugar stated at his home in Ladysmith, "and should never have been in that ring. That wasn't a match, that was aggravated assault, pure and simple."

Aside from the obvious neck injury suffered from the two stunners, Sugar is also nursing a hairline fracture in his left ankle, suffered before the match even started.

"This was to be my big debut in Just Wrestling," Sugar lamented, "but Sweatervest attacked me from behind, and viciously threw me through the ropes to the floor. I landed with all my weight on my left ankle; I thought it was broken. But I struggled on, because I didn't want to let Disco down."

As Sugar struggles to rehabilitate his injuries, he looks toward the 2005 Just Wrestling season.

"My only solace is that the New Year will mark a new chapter in the history of The Sugar-Coated Truth," Sugar predicts, "I won't let these injuries slow me down. Besides, I have a dedicated new assistant -- Marmalade -- and she's helping me get on track, and be ready to go when January rolls around."

Meanwhile, the following night in Vancouver saw sour results for a few others, including Scotty Mac and Juggernaut -- who returned to the Lower Mainland for the first time in more than three years. In the one-night, eight-man tournament to crown a new ECCW Heavyweight Champion, Scotty was defeated in the first round; Juggernaut made it to the finals, but fell short to the eventual winner, Ladies Choice. The tournament finale was wrought with controversy, as every other competitor in the tournament started brawling around ringside, while the match was in progress.

What instigated the brawl was this: Juggernaut, blinded by Skag Rollins, inadvertantly dropped Scotty with the K-Drill, after Scotty came out to counter Skag's incessant interference. During the ensuing fracas, Cremator came out of nowhere to inexplicably drop Juggernaut with a brutal "Incinerator" chokeslam-bomb. Rumors abound that before Cremator's inexplicable assault on Juggernaut, Scotty Mac had actually clobbered his gigantic friend with a steel chair shot to the skull. These claims are, at press time, still undetermined.

Regardless, the aftermath saw Ladies Choice crowned as the new ECCW Heavyweight Champion, but the celebration was cut short: at the first ECCW event of 2005, Choice will be defending his title in a Six-Man "Extreme Rules" Rumble that will include Juggernaut, Scotty Mac, Vance Nevada, Abbadon and Vid Vain.
