I have been back home for just over an hour; got back from North Van on the 6:30am ferry, which docked around 8:15am. Got to manage Deuce Savage last night in his opening contest against Johnny Obsession, but things did not go as planned ... Deuce got a little disoriented (or a little moreso than usual, LOL), and Johnny hit a "rude awakening" neckbreaker for the pinfall.
While I may be 0-2 as a manager, that Obsession is the least impressive "fan favorite" I have ever encountered: the guy is more interested in frosting his hair and looking pretty ... plus he blatantly attacked me TWICE during the match, when I was minding my own business. Behaviour like that is unequivocably rick-diculous.
The Semi-Main Event was a 17-person Battle Royale: winner faces Randy Tyler for the NWA/ECCW Heavyweight Title, March 2 in Surrey. Originally, I thought it was 15 people, and I was "lucky" Number 15. Then out came Stoney "Burgermeister" Edwards ... followed shortly thereafter by Moondog Manson. After taking it to Johnny Obsession and outsmarting Mikey DaSheezits, I nearly put Kurt Sterling out of commission with a rear naked choke ... only to be maliciously assaulted by the Moondog. After some kicks, chokes and a kidney-destroying avalanche in the corner, I was sent flying over the top rope to the floor; finishing fifth out of 17.
After licking my wounds, I made sure to pay attention to the Main Event: Freddy Funk versus Seth Knight in a Chain Match for the NWA Canadian Heavyweight Title. Seth was valiant, but the champion was able to squeak out a victory. Meanwhile, I gathered some valuable insight into my upcoming match with Funk on March 3 in Vancouver. Of course it's a non-title match ... I am the Rodney Dangerfield of the Pacific Northwest: no respect I tell's ya, no repspect!
The night before (March 2), is a big show at the Bridgeview Hall in Surrey; Freddy is putting his gold on the line against Cole Bishop. "The Bish" and I go way back, so maybe I'll get up close and personal for this one, to do some even more scouting for Saturday.
Until next time, Sugar Addicts.
